Our new website is at www.theartssocietyrichmond.org.uk
Please click on the link above for the most up-to-date information.
We are no longer updating this old website of ours.

We used to be called the Richmond & District Decorative and Fine Arts Society but we changed our name in 2017 after NADFAS changed its name to The Arts Society.

Other than our name, nothing has changed. Since 1976 we have been bringing people together who want to share and widen their love for the arts and we now have just over 300 members.

Click here to see our current list of events.

We don’t have a waiting list and there’s no joining fee.

We would love you to become a member and it’s really easy to join.  Just fill out our very short online membership form.

If you would like a chat, please phone Jenny Lebus, who is the Chairman, on 020 8892 9696 or send a brief email to richmond@theartssociety.org or complete our Contact Us form and we will get back to you straight away, or just turn up at the door on a lecture evening.

Our membership fees are £40 single, £75 double, which we reduce as we get closer to our 30th June renewal date. The membership form always shows the amount that’s payable if you join us now.  If you join now, your membership will run all the way up to 30 June 2023.  Click here for the online membership form.

If you’d like to try us out, please pop along for a taster, no ticket needed, just turn up on the door.  We will charge you £5 for attending the lecture in person (except for the May and September lectures which are free) or £7 if you view the lecture on Zoom via Eventbrite, but both are refunded to you if you join. The £2 difference is to cover Eventbrite’s fees.

We are famous for our friendly welcome to new members. That starts right from the beginning with a welcome telephone call from one of the committee when you join, usually from Richard Lebus, our membership secretary. And when you arrive for your first event which will usually be a lecture, we take you under our wing and introduce you to other members. You are never left to cope on your own.

Our lectures are on the first Tuesday of every month (but not in January) in Duke Street Church, Richmond TW9 1DH which is a 2-minute walk from Richmond Station.  The lectures are live and also streamed on Zoom. Our visits and study mornings are all live and in person.

As a member you can come to 11 free monthly lectures a year (not in January) given by lecturers who have been vetted and approved by The Arts Society. Typically we also organise 3 study mornings, 11 visits, 2 trips and 2 socials every year.

You will also receive a free copy of the national magazine published quarterly by The Arts Society which provides articles on arts subjects, news of national activities and ideas about what is available for members, including courses. It also gives information about holidays arranged specifically for members.

If you would like to, please come along for a taster lecture for £5 payable on the door. The £5 is of course refunded to you if you join. Everybody is welcome to come to a lecture. Just turn up. No ticket needed.

Lecture venue:
Duke Street Church, Duke Street, Richmond TW9 1DH, just a 2-minute walk from Richmond Station.

Please note that we are not the same as the similarly named Richmond Art Society whose website is at www.richmondartsociety.com. Membership of Richmond Art Society is open to all even if you are not an artist but it will be particularly attractive to you if you are an artist. It organises lectures like ours on Wednesday evenings in the autumn and winter which, also like ours, are held at Duke Street Church. It also organises two excellent art exhibitions each year but it does not organise any study days, visits or trips as we do.

Members may be interested in the lectures offered by our neighbouring societies, The Arts Society Chiswick, The Arts Society Kingston, The Arts Society Wimbledon and The Arts Society South West London in Putney. Members attending any of those lectures would have to pay their guest fee. And of course there are the study days, courses and other events of The Arts Society Greater London Area.
